Install Packages Hpux. I have a vetran laserjet 4L that worked well until I connected it to my Toshiba 32 bit laptop running Windows Vista. The printer powers up and successfully prints a self test page. It is connected via a vista compliant Cables to Go usb to parrallel port cable. I have the properties set to 'usb port' and 'enable bidirectional support' is unchecked (I have tried it both ways). I have gone to the HP website to update the driver, but they say the driver is included in Vista, so that is the driver I have installed.
I have tried deleting the printer, shutting down, reconnecting the printer and rebooting. I have also tried installing the printer manually. The printer is detected and shows up in Vista, but when I try to print, I get an error and nothing prints. It is apparent from the research I have done that this is a known problem. Neither HP or Microsoft seem to support the issue.
