No tweaks/hacks necessary. Cons: Very slight backlight bleeding in the bottom center. Fixed sufficiently by lowering brightness. There are a few stuck or dead pixels (not sure which yet) - but scattered around enough as to be unnoticeable except in a test pattern. Even with test patterns I have to look very closely to find them. I suspect many 'no dead pixel' reviews are simply not using the right methods to find them; a panel this big is almost guaranteed to have a few. Anyway, it takes 25-100 hours to break in, so we'll see how many I have left after that.
Other Thoughts: This is an amazing upgrade from a Trinitron 21' CRT. It's a brilliant display, and I wouldn't go back from widescreen for anything. I was concerned because I am well aware of the drawbacks of LCDs. This AS-IPS panel has brilliant colors, and great black reproduction for an LCD. Even with the obvious flaws stated above, this is well worth every penny. I highly recommend this purchase. Pros: This is a follow up review from on down the page.
I just wanted to tell anyone who is thinking about getting this monitor but thinks its high, to stop thinking and buy it. This monitor is the best monitor I ever owned and I am thinking of getting another one.
I am running this one at 1920 by 1200 in full color and it looks awsome. I never knew even subpar graphics like in gta san andreas could look so good. I am running socket 754 with an AMD 3000+ 64 bit processor 'OC'D to 2.5 Ghz, with 2 Gig of 500 DDR ram, and a radion X800XT. I got everything turned up except anti alliasing is on 2, and everything works great. But you should see some high res pics are a movie playing on this screen. Like the guy said below, the silver color doesn't get noticed, in fact it actually is a nice contrast against my black desk. Cons: Other than that dead pixel none.
